Privacy policy.
This site collects personal data only when you send us one of its forms, and we use it only for what you sent it for: a reply, a proposal, or new articles if you subscribed. There are no analytics, no advertising trackers and no cookies. The cookies page lists the little the site keeps in your own browser.
1. Who is responsible.
The controller of the data described here is Upmate, Eleftherias 2, 562 24 Thessaloniki, Greece. Email info@upmate.gr, telephone 2310 74 30 40 or 6938 16 16 18.
2. What we collect.
Only what you type into a form, with the form’s name, the page’s language and the time it was sent:
- Contact: your name and email, your phone number if you give it, and your message.
- Start a project: your name and email, your company and phone number if you give them, the kinds of work you tick, your current site, your brief and your timing.
- New articles, on the journal: your email.
To stop automated abuse, the site counts how many forms arrive from each internet connection in an hour. It keeps a fingerprint (a hash) of the IP address with the times, never the address itself.
Like every web server, ours records each request in log files (IP address, time, page and browser), for security and to fix faults.
We collect nothing else: no visitor statistics, no advertising or social media trackers, and no fonts or scripts from other companies’ servers.
3. Why, and on what basis.
- To answer your message or brief, and to prepare a proposal if you asked for one: steps you asked us to take before a possible contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), and our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To send you new articles: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
- To keep the site and its forms safe: our legitimate interest in protecting them from abuse (Article 6(1)(f)).
We never sell your data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.
4. Who else handles it.
- World Host Group hosts the site, on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. The copies of the forms and the log files are kept there.
- Google runs our mailbox, info@upmate.gr, through Google Workspace, and every form arrives there. Google may process data outside the European Union; its data processing terms for Workspace cover such transfers.
Both act only on our instructions. Nobody else receives your data, unless the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it.
- The copy of each form on the server: deleted automatically within 12 months.
- The email in our mailbox: for as long as we need it to answer you, and for any work that follows.
- The fingerprints used against abuse: deleted within two days.
- The server’s log files: only as long as security needs them, after which the hosting provider’s rotation deletes them.
- Your email for new articles: until you ask us to stop.
6. Your rights.
You can ask us at any time to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit what we do with it, or to send it to you in a common file format. You can also object to its use, and withdraw your consent to new articles. Write to info@upmate.gr; we reply within a month.
If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, dpa.gr.
7. Security.
The site is served only over HTTPS. The copies of the forms are kept outside the site’s public folders, and every form is protected against forged and automated sends.
8. Changes.
If what the site collects changes, this page changes first. The date below shows its last update.
